Hope of Detroit Academy
is proud to announce the:
"LI.N.K." Mentoring Program
(Local Intervention Network for Kids)

L.I.N.K. provides our students with strong adult role models with a focus on caring relationships, personal and social responsibility and academic achievement.
Without exception, students that are matched with mentors in the L.I.N.K. program experience improvement in many facets of their lives. There is marked improvement in academics, community involvement and reduced absenteeism.
Mentoring can make a difference in a childs life. A study conducted by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America looked at outcomes for youth in school-based mentoring programs. According to teachers who referred youth to the program:
64 percent of the students developed more positive attitudes toward school
58 percent achieved higher grades in social studies, languages and math
60 percent improved relationships with adults and 56 percent improved relationships with peers
55 percent were better able to express their feelings
64 percent developed higher levels of self-confidence
Who can mentor?
Mentors must be 18 years of age or older and meet the following eligibility criteria:
Written application and release statement
Face-to-face interview
Personal reference checks
Fingerprint-based criminal records check
Employment history
*Training is provided for all mentors.
Make a difference - in your life! Mentoring not only impacts the lives of the students that are matched but it will benefit your life as well! You will have a great time with these children while doing something that actively supports your community. As you grow in your relationship with the student, you will find enjoyment as you help him/her develop personal character and integrity.
If you are currently enrolled in college, the L.I.N.K. mentoring program may be accepted as academic credit for community service.
