Computer Science Couse Syllabus
Goal
It is the goal of Hope of Detroit Academy to ensure that every student is literate in technology. We are dedicated in our efforts to assist all students in crossing the digital divide by providing a quality curriculum based education to every child. It is one of the goals of our technology initiative to assist all students in achieving their highest overall potential. We are here to assist you in developing the ethical and meaningful skills that will aid your child as they develop into successful and productive members of our nation’s great society.
Course Description
This course is one in a series of technology courses designed to prepare students to become responsible and ethical members
of the global community. Students will work in a P. C. environment on brain based projects while receiving direct instruction on computing fundamentals, keyboarding, Microsoft Applications and online literacy. Direct instruction will be based on the Grade Level Educational Technology Standards and Expectations for grades kindergarten through eighth as provided by the National Education Technology Standards and Expectations.

Assignment Submission Procedure
A due date is provided for each assignment that students are given. If an assignment is submitted after the due date students
will lose ten percent of the assignment value for each day the assignment is not turned in. Class work assignments are completed in class and saved to the student’s electronic class folder and the student flash drive. Student have one week to complete and submit take homework before losing points. Both class work and homework may be typed for bonus points however no assignment is required to
be typed for this class. Students may also use class notes and handouts to complete all quizzes and take home assignments. As we are aware that not all students have access to a computer after school hours take home assignments for this class do not require the use of a computer. However for the convenience of our students after school open lab hours are available. Students may also utilize the computer lab during select lunch periods.
