Here you will find information about what we are doing in school each week.We will also post information about special events such as field trips, assemblies, and fund raisers.

On Friday February 3, 2012 our class will travel to Ann Arbor to hear the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra being presented by the University of Michigan  Musical Society.  After the concert we will walk to the Michigan Union to eat lunch. The students will be able to purchase a drink or other food item if they want, but we will have school provided sack lunches so bringing money is optional.

In social studies we are doing a new unit and the unit we are doing is history of Michigan.  History makes some of us think about dinosaurs, famous people from the past ,earliest men and women, and books.Some history is in museums like mummies, dinosaur bones, pictures ,paintings ,statues and, photographs. 

In social studies we are learning about the Indians known as The Three Fires. The Indians have three names.The Three Fire names are Ojibwa, Potowatomie, and Ottawa.

In science we are trying to figure out what rocks have calcite. The rocks that we are doing an experiment on are Marble, Sandstone,Limestone, and Basalt. Mine is Marble. It has calcite. So does Baslt and Sandstone. Limestone does not have calcite inside of the rock.

In reading we are doing story maps of our books.  We write information in the story maps so the teacher knows we understand the book.  If we don't understand the book, that is not good for you.  
We have rules for picking books.
Rule #1 Pick a book that you're interested in.
Rule #2 Open that book to any page and read that page. 
If there are more than 5 words you don't know, that book is not good for you.My teacher says that if you read, you can be a better
reader.

In art we are making a project. We are going to practice drawing 
wild animals. We are going to color with crayon that you dip in
water and they turn like paint. It was COOL!! The name of the crayon is water pastels.

In gym,  it is a lot of fun.  My best friend is my  teacher, Mr.Eastman. He said we could go outside and play on the playground. Mr..Eastman is the greatest teacher in the school so Mr.Eastmen rocks.

In music we sing  all  kinds of songs like  One Nation, Round, Round, Round 24\7,  and more. The music  teacher's name is Mr. MacClean. He is very funny and nice.  He even lets us sing whatever song we want.     

We all live on a planet .  Our planet is called earth.  It   is  one of  nine planets  that go around the sun.
You probably know  the names of  the planets. The   nine      planets  are Mercury,  Venus, Earth, Mars , Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The most important part of the solar system is the sun.
