About Ms. Garvey

I have been teaching fourth grade at Hope of Detroit Academy for five years.  I earned my bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder and my master's degree in education from the University of Detroit Mercy.  Before teaching in Detroit, I worked as an office assistant in Los Angeles, CA.  When I'm not teaching, I enjoy reading, swimming, gardening, and walking my dog, Coco.

MULTIPLICATION
Students must must must know their times tables by heart!
In addition to our weekly speed drills, students will now have a timed test of 100 multiplication problems every Monday.  
They will have seven minutes to complete the test in December.  Starting in January, the time will decrease to six minutes.

        - Students are tested every Friday on their multiplication times          tables.

Come to school to work and learn!

Learning is exciting!  Challenge yourself to learn something new every day.  Read books that you enjoy.  Review your multiplication daily so that you can succeed.  Practice the word of the day at home so that you can be witty, clever, and amazing students.
