Pamela Marks, special education teacher

Picture
My name is Pamela Marks. I am new to Hope of Detroit Academy this year and very excited to join the staff and Students Services team a Special Education teacher. I am really looking forward to serving together with my team to provide the best educational support needed for your children. I am a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Barry University of SW Florida with a B.S. in Exceptional Student Education.

Most my past 16+ years of teaching have been in Southwest Florida in the migrant community of Immokalee where I have taught most every subject and grade from Kinder through High School. I have always specialized in reaching students that are struggling academically or emotionally, creatively and effectively.

Making the decision to become a teacher later in my career has been the best adventure. I bring a life of varied experiences, travel, and a passion for children that struggling to learn. Living, learning and sharing cultural differences makes being a teacher a truly creative experience for me.

Now I have returned to Michigan with my three children to the state where I graduated from high school. This is the first changing of seasons they have ever experienced. They can’t wait to be in the cold. "I know what you may be thinking."

Please know that I am here to serve your children and help them to become successful in life. Please don’t hesitate to call with any questions that you may have about the services we offer you and your family.
