Timothy Eastman, k-8 physical education

Picture
Mr. Eastman teaches K-8 physical education and 6-8 health.  He grew up in Lapeer, MI, which is 20 miles east of Flint.  He graduated from Central Michigan University in December 2006.  From 2007-2010, Mr. Eastman was employed by professional baseball as an umpire.  In May 2010, he was umpiring in Akron,
Ohio.  The field was located near Akron Children’s Hospital, where he witnessed children being airlifted to and from the helicopter base located at the hospital.  It was then that he realized that his purpose in life was more than umpiring baseball.  He felt he could have a bigger impact on people if he pursued a career in education.  During the 2010 season, Mr. Eastman made the decision to retire from baseball and begin a teaching career.  Now, he works in an area that he thoroughly enjoys and is passionate about.  He takes pride in
knowing that he is making a difference in lives of many children.  This year he begins his second year at Hope of Detroit Academy.  He enjoys working with students; takes pride in being a charismatic and positive role model and teaching the students the importance of proper nutrition, exercise, and the fact
that physical fitness is fun!  Furthermore, he is working on his masters degree at Western Michigan University in Special (Adaptive) Physical Education.  He enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Eastman, working out, spending time with family, and watching/playing sports.
